What you need to do before waxing

There are certain medications and products that should not be taken or used if you plan to have a waxing treatment soon. Topical exfoliants used on the area to be waxed such as Retin-A, Renova and hydroquinone, oral acne medications such as Accutane, blood-thinning medications and topical/oral cortisone make the skin more sensitive and increase the likelihood of irritation or other complications. Please check with your doctor if you are unsure whether you should be waxed while on or using a medication.

  • Wait 3-4 weeks without shaving or waxing and have at least ¼ inch or 1.5 cm of hair growth. Your patience for your first waxing treatment is the key! Waxing will not be as effective if you haven’t waited long enough.
  • On the day of you appointment, exfoliate in the shower, exfoliate, exfoliate and exfoliate! This will remove any dead skin and lift up any trapped hairs giving you a much quicker, less pain full and more effective wax for you.

What you need to do after waxing

  • Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times per week, using a glove or mitt. For those stubborn ingrown hairs we suggest purchasing Ingrown Zone or Ingrow Stopper both available for RRP $19.95
  • Wear cotton underwear to allow your skin to breathe.
  • Always shower after exercise or excessive perspiration to avoid ingrown hairs and bacterial infections.
  • Avoid perfume & deodorant within 12 hours of waxing.
  • Avoid salt and chlorine water for 24 hours.

The best advice we can give…

DO NOT SHAVE between waxing treatments, as this will distort the hair growth. Your next wax will be as painful as your very first… ouch!
